There are two editions of this LotR limited edition on ebay right now for $1,000 over the original price, and Folio put that book out less than one month ago. The limited editions that I've seen actually go up in value. You can search on Mercari, Ebay or other used books sites and find Folio editions that hold their value. Mainly books that are special to me, or books they really went all out on the design. I flip back and forth on what I believe is acceptable for me to spend frankly unnecessary amounts of money on. Is there any way to find a list of all the editions of a book by all publishers? So far I have just been googling, looking at various websites such as eBay, Abe books, Biblio mainly.Īnyone else into collecting editions from the Folio Society? Or collecting Ulysses? Any resources anyone could recommend would be greatly appreciated.įolio Society is my favorite fine edition publisher. I have read that books "made" to be collectible don't really have a lot of value, but some of these I find very attractive and I am not looking to acquire them as an investment anyway. I've recently become aware of Folio Society editions of Ulysses in Slip Cases that look really nice, a new Cambridge edition celebrating the 100 yr anniversary of Ulysses (which I have pre-ordered), and others. I also have a few first editions of some Faulkner novels and a lot of Modern Library editions. I have several other editions, not worth a lot but I think they're cool-Modern Library mostly, but also a Franklin Library which I have used as a reading copy. Holding this book ignited a spark in me though and I eventually ended up buying an 8th printing a few months later. It was a 6th printing and a bit out of my price range at the time. I also like Shakespeare & other early modern drama.Ībout a year ago I was browsing in a used bookstore and the owner showed me an early edition of Ulysses (One of my all time favorite novels) by James Joyce. The focus of my reading is Modern literature (James Joyce, William Faulkner, TS Eliot, Virginia Woolf) and some Post Modern (William S Burroughs especially). I am primarily a reader but have started to get more into collecting too.
